Abstract

Twenty two endophytic fungi isolated from oil seeds were screened for their ability to produce extracellular lipolytic enzymes in solid state fermentation. Among them, the most productive strain, identified as Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was cultivated for lipase production in solid state fermentation (SSF) using oil-mill residue as a solid support. The elaboration of extracellular lipases from C. gloeosporioides on different residual cheap oil substrates was tested. Among these, pongamia oil cake (POC) showed maximum lipase activity (983 U/g dry matter (DM)) followed by coconut oil cake (COC) (925 U/g DM). These two oil industrial residues were chosen for enhanced lipase production. The maximum enzyme yield was obtained when POC was impregnated with CDB (Czapek-Dox Broth) in the ratio of 1:1.5 and with (906 U/g DM). Triton X 100 as the extractant from the fermented solids yielded 1020 U/g DM. The optimum temperature for lipase secretion by C. gloeosporioides was found to be 25°C. Xylose as the carbon source and peptone as the nitrogen source were favorable for the secretion of the enzymes. Tween 60 served as a good lipid substrate for lipase production (1170U/g DM) when POC was the substrate. Amending the POC with Magnesium sulphate as a metallic ion source induced good lipase activity (1240 U/g DM) by C. gloeosporioides. The Sunflower oil was found to be best co-vegetable oil substrate to induce the enzyme (2560 U/g DM). Triton X100 served as the surfactant for lipase secretion in C. gloeosporioides. Thus, pongamia oil cake can be used as cheap substrate for enhanced extracellular lipase production by C. gloeosporioides.

Abstract

In this paper, we have developed an IEEE 57 bus test system model for conducting the power flow analysis. Simulink library based editor in Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT) is used for designing the model. MATLAB is used as a platform for running the PSAT software package. Default Newton-Raphson method in PSAT is used for conducting the power flow analysis. The algorithm for designing the Simulink IEEE 57 bus test system model is developed and the power flow has conducted. All the results are tabulated and the necessary graphs were drawn for the voltage, angle, active, and the reactive power for all the 57 buses. All the results are analyzed and the conclusion has given for the validity of this computational power flow analysis.

Abstract

The widespread use of electronic equipments and their integration into the vehicular system have become a necessity in the automobile industry. Automation of vehicles are being carried out with the help of Embedded Systems. In our project, we have proposed and completed four objectives in automotives. The automobiles basically includes wagon under wheels which helps in transportation, locomotion, etc., and reducing human efforts. Existing luxury vehicles have certain disadvantages considering the tyre pressure, accurate quantity of fuels, alternator in which the internal component damage will not be notified and finally a battery notification which will not come with a backup battery. Hence our project idea is to set separate detecting digital meters and controlling equipments for all above said problems inside automobiles itself. This will improve the reliability of the machines used and also avoids accidents, at the end consumer level.

Abstract

The present investigation comprised of experimental study of conventional milling of AISI D3 Steel and Tin coated inserts by using cryogenic CO₂ as a coolant. The main objective of the analysis was to use the Taguchi technique to detect the impact of dynamic parameter viz. Cutting speed, feed, depth of the cut on the roughness of the work piece material. The goal was to comparatively study under dry and wet conditions and observe the effect of cryogenic CO₂ as a coolant with CVD TiN coated as a insert tool. Finally cutting temperature, roughness, Material Removal Rate (MRR) and tool wear were measured. Finally SEM observation was made to analyze the tool wear and the data was complied into MINITAB-17 for Taguchi analysis. Mainly surface roughness and MRR were investigated employing Taguchi design.

Abstract

Background: Obesity the most prevalent form of malnutrition in both developed and developing countries and affecting children as well as adults is replacing the more traditional public health concerns. Obesity and overweight are the fifth leading cause of deaths worldwide. As obesity is the key risk factor in natural history of other chronic non-communicable diseases, obesity prevention strategies offer a cost-effective approach in preventing other chronic non-communicable diseases. Awareness level is the basic necessity to effect a change in behaviour, more so in case of medical students as they can be the health educators of the community. Objective: To create awareness about risk factor of obesity among College students. Result: Among 100 students, 64 were men and 36 were women. It was found that 57.4% men and 72.7% women were not aware of its risk factors, respectively. Conclusion: The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher compared to other studies and the awareness level was satisfactory.

Abstract

The AC voltage controller plays a vital role in many of the industries. In this paper the multiple pulse width modulated AC voltage controllers is designed for analyzing the different loads. The performance of AC voltage controller is analyzed with and without filter. The performance parameters are output voltage and total harmonic distortion. The performance analysis is done for pulse width modulated AC voltage controller with resistive load and combination of resistive and inductive load. The design of passive filter components is obtained using particle swarm bacterial foraging optimization technique. The effect of filter requirements is analyzed using the Matlab software.

Abstract

This project deals with design development and fabrication of “MULTI PURPOSE PNEUMATIC MACHINE”. This machine is designed for the purpose of multi-operation i.e. Grinding, punching, and cutting. This machine performs multipurpose operation at same time with required speed and this machine is automatic which is controlled or operated by pneumatic pressure. This model of multi-operational machine may be used in industry and domestic operation which can perform mechanical operation like grinding, punching, and cutting of a thin metallic as well as wooden model or body. A high pressure compressed air is forced on a fan and the fan is made to rotate. This rotation is transmitted to the machining head by a shaft and the required operation is carried out.

Abstract

Chitosan (CS), a polysaccharide, has many industrial applications and its miscibility studies are most useful. Synthetic polymer, poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a subject of current research interest. Hence, miscibility of CS and PEG in aqueous acetic acid solutions has been studied by ultrasonic velocity, refractive index and viscosity techniques at 303.15 K, over a wide range of compositions ranging from 0-100% of CS in CS/PEG blends. The results of ultrasonic velocity and its derived acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (β_ad), acoustic impedance (Z), relaxation strength (γ_s) and Rao number (R) have been used to discuss the miscibility/immiscibility of the blend under study. These discussions revealed that the blend is miscible up to 40% of chitosan in the blend and beyond this, the blend is immiscible. Using the viscosity data, the interaction parameters ΔB, μ and α were computed and used to discuss the miscibility/immiscibility nature of this blend. The ultrasonic velocity results are further confirmed by viscosity and refractive index results.

Abstract

To mitigate the global climate change and to enhance India’s renewable power generation capacity and to deploy low carbon energy production with improved energy efficiency, offshore wind generation is being suggested in this paper. Policy and regulatory framework aspects for achieving 5 GW offshore wind installations in the states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu by the year 2032 with current practices and sophisticated technologies adopted throughout the world is presented. For effective implementation, suitable measures and actions to be taken by various stake holders are also mentioned.

Abstract

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, interactive communication networks play a pivotal role in facilitating real-time interactions among users. One of the critical challenges in these networks is ensuring the seamless delivery of multimedia content that caters to the diverse needs and preferences of individual users. This research endeavors to address this challenge by introducing a novel approach, where it places user satisfaction at its core, leveraging adaptive streaming techniques to dynamically adjust multimedia content delivery. By considering parameters such as network conditions, device capabilities, and user preferences, it optimizes the streaming experience in real-time. A key innovation lies in the integration of Shannon-Fano coding principles and genetic algorithms. Shannon-Fano coding enhances data compression efficiency, reducing bandwidth consumption, while genetic algorithms fine-tune the adaptive streaming parameters for each user. Our experimentation and evaluations demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach, showcasing improved multimedia streaming quality, reduced latency, and efficient bandwidth utilization. The synergy of user-centricity, adaptive streaming, Shannon-Fano coding, and genetic algorithms presents a promising avenue for enhancing multimedia communication in interactive networks.

Abstract

The explosive growth of video data poses a significant challenge in retrieving relevant content swiftly. Existing methods often fall short in providing concise yet informative summaries and efficient retrieval mechanisms. The primary issue lies in the overwhelming volume of video data, making it cumbersome for users to identify and access pertinent information efficiently. Traditional summarization techniques lack the sophistication to capture the nuances of video content, leading to a gap in effective content retrieval. Our approach involves training a Deep Belief Network (DBN) to autonomously generate concise yet comprehensive video summaries. Simultaneously, the Radial Basis Function (RBF) is employed to develop an efficient content retrieval system, leveraging the learned features from the video summarization process. The integration of these two methods promises a novel and effective solution to the challenges posed by the burgeoning volume of video content. Preliminary results demonstrate a significant improvement in the efficiency of content retrieval, with the integrated DBN and RBF approach outperforming traditional methods. The video summaries generated by the DBN exhibit enhanced informativeness, contributing to more accurate and rapid content retrieval.
